Us director Jordan Peele got a little more than he bargained for when he joined Desus Nice and The Kid Mero on their Showtime talk show Desus & Mero Thursday night. The comedians and Bodega Boys podcasters grilled Peele about the success of his films Get Out and Us, and decided to run a few ideas of their own by him about where he could go next. Peele was generally unimpressed.

Some of Desus and Mero’s ideas for launching their EGOT campaign included a hyperlocal reimagining of Matt Damon’s We Bought a Zoo titled We Bought a Bronx Zoo, a Jaws remake involving “Baby Shark” (with possible sequels Mommy Shark, Daddy Shark, Grandpa Shark and Grandma Shark) and of course The Bada Bing Babadook, which shouldn’t require any explanation.

“Real, true art comes from truth,” an exasperated Peele told his new fans. “So maybe you guys can access something that’s real.” The pair responded with a pitch for a semi-pornographic take on Back to the Future, which was shockingly the only idea that Peele didn’t flat-out reject. “I don’t hate this idea, I think it just takes a really deft hand to pull it off without offending people,” Peele said.

You can follow the duo’s quest for an EGOT on their Showtime series Desus & Mero, which airs Thursdays at 11 p.m. ET/PT. Watch Peele’s interview on the show along with a trailer for his new film Us below.
