Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Cross, More Join 34th Edition of Just For Laughs Festival

The cast of HBO’s hit political comedy Veep, comedy A-listers Howie Mandel and Hannibal Buress, and Emmy winner and Grammy nominee David Cross are all set to appear during the 34th Edition of Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival.

The event, which runs from July 13-31, 2016, will feature concerts, club series and one-of-a-kind performances from comedy’s biggest talents, including Lewis Black, Jeff Ross, Jeremy Hotz, Brian Regan and Maria Bamford, as well as previously announced guests like Jimmy Carr, Ralphie May, Godfrey, Gina Brillon, Jessica Kirson and Bobby Slayton, among others.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Emmy winner and star of HBO’s awarding-winning series Veep, will be joined by fellow cast members Tony Hale and Timothy Simons, plus showrunner David Mandel, for “An Evening with the Cast of Veep.” Attendees can join the event and watch as the show’s cast and creator discuss what it’s like working on TV’s most timely and cleverly scripted political satire series on July 27 at the Maison Symphonique at Place Des Arts in Montreal.

After a six-year hiatus, the talented performer, writer and producer David Cross returned to stand-up with his Making America Great Again tour this past winter. He also saw the relaunch of his and Bob Odenkirk’s cult sketch-comedy series Mr. Show with Bob and David on Netflix this past fall. Now you can see Cross and other comedy heavyweights at the David Cross Gala at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place Des Arts on July 27.

And for the first time in Just for Laughs’ 34-year history, comedy fans can see portions of the festival telecast across North America in partnership with Comedy Central. That includes Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle, a new, four-night comedy competition in tradition of Comedy Central’s highly successful roasts. The event will feature “a no-holds-barred verbal boxing match in which comedians will compete head-to-head in a battle of wit and insults.” The bracket-style competition that sees two comics face each other in front of a celebrity panel of judges will be live-taped at Just For Laughs from July 27-29. Finals, which take place on July 31, will air live to millions of viewers as they are simulcast on Comedy Central in the US and the Comedy Network in Canada.

Keeping in line with last year’s CW network special, Howie Mandel will host the second edition of the 90-minute special Just For Laughs Starring Howie Mandel, featuring performances from and by stand-up’s biggest names. The “all-star multi-comic gala” is presented by Videotron and Air Canada and will be filmed at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place Des Arts on July 29.

Finally, making a welcome return: attendees will be able to once again purchase festival pass packages to the world’s largest comedy gathering, presented by Videotron in association with Loto-Québec. Grab Just For Laughs Festival two-show passes for only $99.99, the 3-Show Pass for $139.99, the 5-Show Pass for $215 or the new VIP festival pass for $300. Tickets can be purchased via the Just For Laughs Festival box office and on hahaha.com. For more information on the festival—goodness knows, there is a ton of it—check out the event website here.
