Louis C.K. Has Two New Stand-Up Specials Coming Exclusively to Netflix

Netflix has been absolutely killing it in the deals department lately. Louis C.K., one of the most respected comedians working today, has signed an exclusive deal with Netflix to premiere two new stand-up comedy specials this year, the first of which, 2017, will come to the streaming service in early April.

Mostly known for his stand-up, C.K. found an audience on television through his Peabody Award-winning FX show Louie, a kind of independent, emotional, artistic version of Seinfeld. He also created a show, Horace and Pete, that was distributed primarily through his website before it got picked up by Hulu in December. 2017 and the following stand-up special, coming later this year, will join four other C.K. stand-up specials already on the streaming service.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said of the deal in a statement:

Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand up. He has also been a thought leader in the business of comedy. We have marveled at his creativity and his ability to invent comedically and commercially, and are thrilled that he is bringing his newest specials to Netflix.

Louis C.K.’s 2017 premieres on Netflix on April 4.
