Christie’s direct-to-Netflix special, filmed at London’s historic Hoxton Hall, is now streaming in the U.S., Canada, U.K. & Eire, Africa, India, Australia and New Zealand.
Christie is an award-winning comic known for her witty, unapologetically political and feminist material, which deals with issues of sex, gender and equality. The Guardian named her stand-up show Because You Demanded It (which she is currently touring) the best of 2016, describing it as “the funniest and most proportionate response” to the then-fresh wound that was Brexit. Even in the considerable heat of that political moment, Christie delivered a rejection of fear and xenophobia that was nonetheless “couched in daft set pieces about horticulture and detours via her husband’s thoughts on labiaplasty.”
In addition to her stand-up success, Christie is an accomplished writer: She’s a former weekend columnist for The Guardian, and has both bylines in The Times, The Sunday Times and The Independent, and an acclaimed book, naturally titled A Book for Her, to her name. If all of this is any indication, that name is one you’ll want to know.
