Jennifer Aniston, Tig Notaro to Star as President, First Lady in Netflix’s First Ladies
Photos by Jason Merritt/Getty, Charley Gallay/GettyGiven the dumpster fire that has become the current seat of executive power in the United States, many of us take solace in The West Wing as a liberal fantasy of what the federal government could be. Well, move aside, Jed Bartlet, because Jennifer Aniston and Tig Notaro are teaming up as president and First Lady in a new Netflix film titled First Ladies. Nothing but respect for our lesbian presidential power couple.
In First Ladies, Aniston will play the first female President of the United States. Notaro will play her wife, the First Lady, and, honestly, what a time to be alive.
Notaro and her real-life wife Stephanie Allynne will write the film together, expanding Notaro’s relationship with the streaming company. Her forthcoming comedy special Tig Notaro Happy to Be Here will premiere on May 22, and she is set to direct Ellen DeGeneres’ stand-up special. Both specials will be available to stream on Netflix.
In addition, the film will be Aniston’s second collaboration with Netflix. She recently signed on to star opposite Adam Sandler in the Netflix comedy Murder Mystery.
“Behind every great woman … is another great woman,” reads the logline for the film.
Notaro, Aniston and Allynne will produce First Ladies alongside Adam McKay, Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Betsy Koch for Gloria Sanchez Productions.
