Ralphie May, the popular comic who rose to fame on the first season of Last Comic Standing and had a series of specials on Comedy Central and Netflix, has died, according to the Hollywood Reporter. He was 45.

Born in Tennessee and raised in Arkansas and Texas, Ralphie May was known for his prodigious size, his Southern outlook, and a brash stand-up style that appealed to both white and black audiences. His most recent special, Imperfectly Yours, debuted on Netflix in 2015. According to his manager, he was found dead of cardiac arrest in Las Vegas after suffering from pneumonia for the last month. May is survived by his wife, comedian Lahna Turner, and their two children.
