Comedy Specials and Albums to Enjoy in February 2024

Another month, and another bevy of comedy specials and albums are on their way. We’ll be out of the gloom of winter soon, but with these titles set for release in February, things are looking a little brighter. So here we have them, listed alphabetically for your perusing.

And if you’re behind on the comedy specials released in January, just check out our list here.

Ahmed Al-kadri: Special Not Special

Where to stream: YouTube
Release date: February 24

Ahmed Al-kadri jokes about being on shrooms at a Lizzo concert, his love life, his experiences as a Yemeni-American, and much more in his debut special. The comedian, originally from Dallas but currently based in Los Angeles, has quite the following on Instagram and TikTok, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can translate the short form buzz into an hour-long set.

Angela Barnes: Hot Mess

Where to stream: NextUp Comedy
Release date: February 1

If you’re a fan of one of the bajillion English comedy panel shows (Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, etc.), you’ve probably seen Angela Barnes before. Her delivery on these programs and during her stand-up is very devil-may-care, which makes her comedy all the more appealing.

Mary Basmadjian: Funny Armenian Girl

Where to stream: Prime Video and Apple TV
Release date: February 20

First-generation Armenian comedian Mary Basmadjian is living that old USA Network motto, “characters welcome,” specifically the outspoken Vartoush, her take on the quintessential Armenian aunt. Vartoush is a large part of how Basmadjian grew her online following, so will naturally make an appearance in the special, alongside more conventional stand-up about online dating and body image.

Rob Haze: Frontin’

Where to stream: YouTube
Release date: February 2

Atlanta comedian Rob Haze is releasing his first hour-long special 15 years into his stand-up career. His relaxed, conversational style draws the viewer into the subject at hand; in this case, much of his set is about being a misfit and the pressure to conform. If you’re more of an audio person, the album will be out on March 2 via Blonde Medicine.

Chris Martin: Above Ground Comedian

Where to stream: Wherever you listen to comedy
Release date: February 23

No, not that Chris Martin. It certainly doesn’t help that comedy Chris is also British. Anyway, he’s moved to Los Angeles now (Coldplay Chris is in Malibu… they just can’t escape each other) and dives into our cultural differences in his sophomore comedy album.

Kim McVicar: Female Comedian

Where to stream: Prime Video and Apple TV
Release date: February 6

Kim McVicar’s third stand-up special boasts bits about the perils of men trying to stick their boners in your backside on the dance floor and her dreams of playing a corpse on NCIS

Jenny Slate: Seasoned Professional

Where to stream: Prime Video
Release date: February 23

I love Jenny Slate! And I love her little tuxedo top with shorts outfit she’s sporting in her new special Season Professional! This is her first special in five years, since her 2019 debut Stage Fright, and fingers crossed it lives up to the glory of that hour.

Taylor Tomlinson: Have It All

Where to stream: Netflix
Release date: February 13

I don’t want to call it too early, but this might be the year of Taylor Tomlinson. She’s taking over After Midnight—becoming the youngest ever late-night host—and releasing her new special on Netflix. Hopefully it’ll be a step up from Look at You, which starts off smart but then relies on cliches.

Emily Van Dyke: Feeling Myself

Where to stream: Wherever you listen to comedy
Release date: February 9

After a decade doing stand-up, Indiana native and Bay Area transplant Emily Van Dyke is releasing her debut comedy record. Expect some straight-talking truths about soft handed tech bros and sex education in the 1900s.
