Comedian Gina Yashere Joins The Daily Show With Trevor Noah
Photo by David BurgoyneLondon-born comedian Gina Yashere is the newest addition to Trevor Noah’s “Best F#@king News Team” on The Daily Show.
Yashere has been pretty busy the last few years. She appeared on popular U.K. shows such as Live At The Apollo and Mock The Week, and broke into the American comedy scene when she made the top ten on Last Comic Standing. Since coming to the States, she’s done stand-up on The Tonight Show, appeared on @midnight with Chris Hardwick and was named one of the top ten rising comedic talents by The Hollywood Reporter.
The Daily Show has a long tradition of fostering emerging talent. Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Samantha Bee and Larry Wilmore all got their starts as Daily Show correspondence, and they’ve all risen to great success, with Colbert, Oliver and Bee hosting their own shows, and Wilmore, who previously had his own (all-too-short-lived) show as well, now serves as a very in-demand writer and producer for HBO’s Insecure. Time will tell if Yashere can use her new platform to skyrocket into mainstream success. We’re rooting for you, Gina!
Yashere made her first appearance on The Daily Show last night with an in-studio desk piece. You can watch the video clip here, in which Yashere discusses with Noah the economic impact of Brexit on Britain.
