The Daily Show Adds Dulcé Sloan as New Correspondent
Photo by Gabriel MichaelWhile the quality of the current Daily Show (and its host) is up for discussion, the Comedy Central late-night talk show is still an important platform for up-and-coming comedians. The Daily Show’s newest addition to the roster of its correspondents is Dulcé Sloan.
Sloan certainly has the credentials for late-night comedy, previously performing on Conan and appearing on Comedy Central’s own @midnight. Additionally, Sloan earned the title of 2016 NBC Stand Up Showcase Winner and was named as a “Comedian to Watch” on The Steve Harvey Show. Sloan was also cast in the forthcoming Eva Longoria show Type-A and the pilot for Amy Poehler show Dumb Prince, which was not picked up by NBC.
It looks like The Daily Show cast has a one-in, one-out policy, as Sloan comes in before Jordan Klepper is due to leave for his own show, The Opposition. Comedy Central promises a “fresh and honest perspective” and a “signature point-of-view and confidence to commentary on a wide range of topics” from Sloan—a bit of a generic description, as that should be expected from all Daily Show players. Still, we should see how she’ll fare when she makes her first appearance on The Daily Show this week. Watch her stand-up set from Conan, embedded below.
