Tim Robinson’s New Comedy Series The Chair Company Picked Up by HBO
Image Courtesy of Danielle LevittNo, his job isn’t tables—Tim Robinson’s new half-hour comedy show, The Chair Company, has been picked up by HBO. Robinson stars as William Ronald Trosper, a man who “after an embarrassing incident at work… finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy,” as per the press release logline. It’s a very I Think You Should Leave-type premise, like the Carber Vac guy who develops his hot dog sucking invention… after being fired for an embarrassing incident at work invovling tubular meat.
It’ll be intriguing to see how Robinson and frequent collaborator Zach Kanin (ITYSL, Detroiters), who both serve as writers and executive producerson The Chair Company, take this sort of idea from sketch to series-length. They’re joined by fellow executive producers Adam McKay and Todd Schulman for HyperObject Industries and Igor Srubshchik.
“We are so excited and thankful to get to make this show with HBO, HyperObject, and all of the amazing cast and crew that have helped to create it,” Robinson and Kanin say of The Chair Company.
The rest of the cast includes the hilarious Lake Bell (Harley Quinn, In a World…) as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis (from the sadly short lived I Am Not Okay With This and It) as Natalie Trosper, Will Price (A Complete Unknown, After the Hunt) as Seth Trosper, and Joseph Tudisco (FBI, Blue Bloods) as Mike Santini. The pilot of The Chair Company was directed and executive produced by Andrew DeYoung (Would It Kill You to Laugh?, PEN15), and includes a guest appearance from La Bamba star Lou Diamond Phillips as the character Jeff Levjman.
Frankly, we can’t wait for more information on when we get to dive into the inevitably strange world of The Chair Company, but to tide yourself over, revisit our review of Season 3 of I Think You Should Leave.
