New Wanda Sykes Stand-Up Special Coming to Netflix Following Pay Dispute

Veteran comedian Wanda Sykes’ fifth stand-up special is coming to Netflix, the streaming giant announced Wednesday.

Sykes, who currently appears on ABC’s black-ish, and recently left her role as consulting producer on the network’s controversial Roseanne reboot, is coming to Netflix after she tweeted critically about a pay dispute with the company earlier this year.

After fellow comedian Mo’Nique complained about only being offered $500K for her special and called for a boycott of Netflix, Sykes responded by tweeting that she’d only been offered half that amount, a move that lead Sykes to take her last special, 2016’s What Happened … Ms. Sykes?, to Epix.

It would appear that fence has since been mended. Sykes’ forthcoming hour-long Netflix special will launch globally in 2019, and will be produced by Push It Productions, co-founded by Sykes with producer Page Hurwitz.

No word yet on when the special is set to tape or stream.
