Anthony Bourdain Serves His Final Creepy Course in Hungry Ghosts #4
Main Art by Paul PopeDark Horse’s Berger Books imprint is coming into its own with reprints of Vertigo titles like The Originals, hotly anticipated new series like August’s The Seeds and current books that run the gamut from social commentary to food-centered horror. Anthony Bourdain’s Hungry Ghosts, co-written with his Get Jiro! collaborator Joel Rose, is the latter, serving up spectral tales of cursed chefs and doomed diners inspired by Japanese folklore. Hungry Ghosts #4, which hits shelves next week, brings the series to a close—for now, at least. Irene Koh, the artist behind Dark Horse’s Legend of Korra continuation, and Francesco Francavilla, best known for Afterlife With Archie and his prolific movie poster designs, join Bourdain and Rose for shorts about the infamous Snow Woman and a famine-ridden town disrupted by a mysterious stranger, respectively. If that didn’t whet your appetite, Paste has an exclusive first look at Francavilla’s and Koh’s interior pages below. Hungry Ghosts #4 is on sale May 9th.
