Six Years Later, Hulu Gives Locke and Key a Second Chance at TV Adaptation
Art by Gabriel Rodriguez/IDWYears after having its TV hopes dashed by Fox, apparent King family favorite Hulu has committed to bringing Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s beloved graphic novel miniseries Locke and Key to life on the small screen.
With Hill scripting the hourlong pilot and Doctor Strange’s Scott Derrickson directing, it’s assumed the show will closely echo the source material’s story of three siblings who move into their murdered father’s childhood home, only to find a powerful set of magical keys and demons who lust after said supernatural objects.
According to THR, Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel, Colony) will serve as showrunner for the IDW Comics adaptation. The comic publisher shopped the series around to bidders like Netflix, HBO and FX before ultimately going with Hulu for their straight-to-series order.
