Rae Sremmurd Team Up with Valiant for Their Own Comic
Art by Leif Jones/Valiant EntertainmentHaving already conquered the music world with chart-topping, meme-spawning hits like “Black Beatles,” Rae Sremmurd will now set their sights on the world of superheroes and their tight clothing. The hip-hop duo will team up with Valiant Comics to publish SHADOWMAN/RAE SREMMURD #1, per Billboard.
In a move seemingly befitting of Narcissus himself, the comic will centrally feature the two rappers, Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, as they do battle with the titular Shadowman. The hip-hopping tandem will head down to New Orleans for a straight-up duel with the superhero. The comic is written by Eliot Rahal, with art by Renato Guedes.
For his part, Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi seems to really grasp what comic books are. Like, what they literally are. He told Billboard:
Comic books are a form of entertainment. I get to make all the sounds and effects in my head. It’s just like you use your imagination—you go through the pictures and the pictures are always awesome. It’s like an escape from reality./p>
Nailed it.
