Manic pixie dream girl and Fox’s New Girl , Zooey Deschanel, is designing a capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger. Set to debut at Macy’s this Spring, the collection will capture Deschanel’s signature style, replete with flouncy dresses, tights and flats.
The collection will consist of sixteen “Sixties-inspired short dresses” with “a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics,” Hilfiger tells WWD.
While some are surprised by this collaboration given Hilfiger’s mainstream appeal and Deschanel’s offbeat vibe, when asked about Deschanel, Hilfiger told WWD, “She is the epitome of (a Tommy girl) — all-American, youthful, fun and funny, yet she has a sophistication and worldliness to her that’s quite endearing.”
Deschanel’s designs are being described as “Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy” and little twee hearts all over the world are a flutter. Fingers crossed the dresses make their debut on Ms. Jessica Day via New Girl. See some of the looks in the collection here.
