Chorizo is coming to Chipotle. After a limited rollout in five markets, the spicy sausage will now be offered at Chipotle locations across the country.
“The reaction to chorizo in the cities that have had it has been overwhelmingly positive, so we’re making it available in all of our restaurants across the country,” said Chipotle founder, chairman and co-CEO Steve Ells. “Our chorizo is made with responsibly raised chicken and pork, and provides a delicious new option that fits perfectly with the rest of our menu.”
Chipotle’s chorizo is made with a blend of pork and white-meat chicken, and is seasoned with paprika, toasted cumin, and chipotle peppers. Chorizo will be available in burritos, tacos, burritos bowls and salads, and can be combined with all of Chipotle’s other ingredients.
The casual dining chain has timed the launch of chorizo with National Taco Day, which took place earlier this week. The company prides itself on offering reasonably raised ingredients, and chorizo looks to be the latest step in that direction. You can try it at a Chipotle near you today.
