With so many urban wineries, Portlanders and tourists alike have the option of exploring an urban wine landscape without leaving the city. Portland winemakers take grapes to bottle without leaving the city, either. This eagerness to produce and live in the same city has created a map of Portland dotted with urban wine production, some of which are members of the PDX Urban Wineries, an association of wineries who help promote the group’s creations.
Here are some of the city’s best urban wineries by neighborhood, not all of which are members of the PDX Urban Wineries group.
Southeast Portland Urban Wineries

In 2012, Kate Morris and Tom Monore created not only the urban winery and wine bar called SE Wine Collective, but also a venue to bring together other winemakers attempting to grow their businesses in Portland. The result is a venue for commercial custom crush wine production. This collaborative use of space means wine lovers can try the creations of resident artisanal winemakers as well as other inspirational Old World wines. Wine producers such as Division Wine Making Company, Fullerton Wines, Willful Wines and more are all waiting to be discovered here.
Enso Winery hand crafts authentic old-world style wine with grapes sourced from Oregon, Washington and California. There’s an array of varietal wines, blends and even refreshing canned sangria: Lemon Ginger Rosemary (White Wine), Blueberry Basil (White Wine) or Raspberry Loganberry Cardamom (Rosé Wine).
The vibe at Teutonic Wine Company is wine tasting room meets hip neighborhood bar (they serve Rainier beer and spin records). Wine styles here include riesling, gewurztraminer, pinot meunier, pinot noir, among others—available as tasters, in a glass or by the bottle. There’s even a wine club called Wine Crüe. Buy 12 bottles, three times per year at the “Ultra High Fidelity” member level, and you can also choose records for the winery to buy for its permanent collection.
Hip Chicks Do Wine has been producing fruit-forward wine in Portland since 1999, making it Portland’s oldest urban winery. The woman-owned winery sources grapes from Oregon and Washington. The winery also outturns a line of limited-production wines like pinot noir, pinot gris and syrah, named Tiernan Connor Cellar Wines after the purveyors’ son.
Urban Crush Winery is a group of small, family-owned wineries that share a production facility, tasting room and wine lounge: Angel Wine, D’Anu, and Cinzia. In nearby Sellwood at Jasper Sisco Wines, Justin Paul Russell produces a 10-wine line-up available at his soon-to-open tasting room ranging from rosé Cinsault to sparkling muscat.
Inner Industrial Southeast Wineries

Cooper’s Hall is housed in a former auto body shop, which seamlessly joins the winery and taproom together. Order small tasters and flights of wine here—including wine by Copper’s Hall on tap, along with an entire dinner menu with choices like rotisserie chicken or polenta and prawns.
Fausse Piste’s cellar and tasting room is only open by appointment or during spring and fall open houses. Compared to most, the wines undergo extensive aging in french oak barrels for up to three years. Try this winery’s viognier, chardonnay, syrah and other current releases for $10 or free with a purchase.
North/Northwest Portland

Italian-inspired Viola Wine Cellars wine is produced in Portland, but not at the cellar on NE Alberta Street but instead in owner Darryl Joannides’ garage in Northwest Portland. Jan-Marc Wine Cellars at Garagiste Wine Bar has a similar story,: winemaker Jan-Marc produces juicey rosé, old vine pinot noir, and more in his two-stall garage a mere blocks from the North Portland tasting room. Tucked away in industrial North, Seven Bridges Winery offers all red varietals like cabernet sauvignon, malbec, syrah, among others.
Just across the bridge in Northwest Portland, the husband and wife team at Boedecker Cellars offer a true glimpse of Oregon-style wines like “Pinot noir Willamette Valley” or
“Boedecker Cellars Athena Pinot noir.”
