Red Hood, Starfire and Sub-Zero Revealed as Injustice 2’s First DLC Characters

Despite the fact that we’re still 11 days out from the release of Injustice 2, Warner Bros. and developer NetherRealm have already announced the game’s first trio of DLC characters in a new trailer: Red Hood, Starfire, and Mortal Kombat’s Sub-Zero.

The inclusion of the Mortal Kombat character shouldn’t come as a surprise since NetherRealm also handles the development of that franchise, with MK co-creator Ed Boon at the helm as director. In the first DLC wave, Sub-Zero joins exiled Tamaran princess Starfire and Jason Todd’s (the second Robin, killed by Joker then brought back to life) gun-toting vigilante Red Hood.

While no release date has been given for the trio, they’ll make up a third of the nine extra characters available to owners of Injustice 2’s Ultimate Edition, along with the other skins and gear shaders packed into the $99.99 release. The three characters alone, along with one skin and one gear shader, will be included in the $79.99 Digital Deluxe Edition of the game.

If you look closely at the end of the trailer, you can make out the silhouettes of Aquaman’s nemesis Black Manta on the left, and of Mortal Kombat’s Raiden on the right. While the outlines of the other four shadowy characters are less distinct, some fans have speculated that Azrael might be standing to Raiden’s immediate left, but we’ll just have to wait to see, now won’t we?

Go ahead and check out the trailer above if you haven’t already. You can also take a look at a ton of other character reveals and gameplay footage we compiled in an April post about the game. Injustice 2 hits PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
