Rick Rubin Is Releasing a Star Wars EDM Album

Geek News Rick Rubin

We suppose that it’s only natural for the world of C-3PO and R2-D2 to embrace electronic music. Production wizard Rick Rubin is making that a reality with his Star Wars Headspace compilation, featuring dance tracks from the likes of Flying Lotus, Baauer, Kaskade, Shlohmo, and a J.J. Abrams-Lin-Manuel Miranda collaboration called Shag Kava, among others.

Zane Lowe premiered two of the tracks, “R2 Where R U” and “Cantina Boys,” on his Beats 1 Radio show earlier today. The former samples C-3PO and R2-D2’s sassy communication over a typically soulful Flying Lotus beat, while the latter reimagines the Cantina band’s classic song with Baauer’s brash production and some menacing Darth Vader inhalations.

Star Wars Headspace hits the Internet on Feb. 19 via Hollywood Records.
