“Sweet Baby Jesus” Beer Pulled From Stores in Illinois and Ohio

Apparently sweet beers aren’t for everyone. DuClaw Brewing Company’s Sweet Baby Jesus (a chocolate peanut butter porter) was pulled from grocery store shelves in more than 20 locations after Heinen’s Grocery Supermarket Chain received numerous customer complaints. It’s not the first time the name has caused controversy.

The Baltimore Business Journal reports that that a military base also pulled the creamy Reese’s-like brew from grocery shelves. Brewers at the Maryland-based company say they aren’t trying to offend people. Founder Dave Enfield says “We don’t censor ourselves because it might cost us dollars.”

One look at the Duclaw selection and we don’t doubt him. Imagine what people would think if Bare Ass Blonde Ale, Hellrazer IPA or Devil’s Due Bourbon Barrel Stout made into stores.
