Blake Lively Disappears in the Peculiar Trailer for A Simple Favor

Something is definitely up with A Simple Favor’s Emily (Blake Lively). In the trailer, we hear Anna Kendrick’s Stephanie say, “Five days ago, Emily went missing. I’m realizing I don’t know her as well as I thought I did. Emily, if you’re out there, we’re all really worried!”

Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding plays Emily’s husband in the film, and you hear him say in the trailer, “She is an enigma, my wife. You can get close to her, but never quite reach her.”

In anticipation of the A Simple Favor trailer’s Wednesday release, Lively deleted every one of her Instagram photos. On top of that, she unfollowed every account she tracked and is now only following women named Emily Nelson, 37 of them to be exact. It seems Ms. Lively is taking her “disappearance” quite far. We wonder if she’ll make any public appearances in the meantime, or if she’s really Daniel Day-Lewis-ing this character.

Oscar nominee Kendrick (Best Supporting Actress for Up in the Air) plays Emily’s best friend Stephanie, a mommy vlogger who worries about the Emily she thought she knew. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding this trailer, but we know one thing: Emily is missing, but is anyone really searching for her?

Do people really have a dark side, or are some just better at hiding than others? Find out what happened to Emily when A Simple Favor hits theaters on Sept. 14, and in the meantime, check out the film’s trailer and poster below. Directed by Paul Feig (Ghostbusters, Bridesmaids), A Simple Favor also stars Andrew Rannells, Linda Cardellini, Jean Smart and Rupert Friend—find out more about the film here.
