Alec Baldwin and Bella Thorne Join Malin Akerman in the Ring for Chick Fight

The upcoming indie action comedy Chick Fight has gained two brawlers from opposite realms of Hollywood: frequent Donald Trump impersonator Alec Baldwin and Disney Channel alum Bella Thorne, Deadline reports. Malin Akerman, (Billions, Watchmen), is producing and starring in the film as Anna, a woman who’s got a lot on her plate, as Deadline reports:

Akerman stars as Annam who still hasn’t reconciled with the recent death of her adored mother. She’s just discovered that her loving and supportive father is gay, and she accidentally burns down her uninsured coffee shop after learning a thrown joint and a spilled bottle of moonshine don’t mix. Knowing Anna needs to be abruptly shaken and stirred from her deep funk, her best friend takes her to an all-women underground fight club where she encounters an eclectic cast of characters.

Thorne has been cast as Olivia, the club’s most brutal and menacingly perfect fighter and instant enemy to Anna. Baldwin will play Anna’s reclusive trainer, Jack Murphy, who helps Anna rediscover her inner strength in “the most primal of ways”.

The project is being directed by Paul Leyden, while Joseph Downey wrote the original script. Akerman is producing with Yale Productions’ Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman and Michael J. Rothstein, Idiot Savant’s Anne Clements and Ash Christian. Tiffany Boyle and Elsa Ramo are executive producing along with Yale’s Russ Posternak, Jon Keeyes and Jesse Korman as co-producers. Filming for Chick Fight is scheduled to begin in January.
