Mads Mikkelsen Fights for His Life in First Trailer for Survival Drama Arctic

Mads Mikkelsen stars in Arctic as Overgård, a man stranded in the Arctic after a plane crash, who must decide whether to remain in the relative safety of his makeshift camp or to embark on a deadly trek through the unknown in hopes of making it out alive.

The film’s new trailer follows Mikkelsen’s character throughout his brutal ordeal in the Arctic, and also shows him choose to take in a young woman, played by Maria Thelma Sma?rado?ttir.

Arctic premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, where it was acquired by Bleecker Street, which will be releasing the film in appropriately frosty February. Arctic comes from director Joe Penna, who co-wrote the script with Ryan Morrison.

Arctic opens in select theaters on Feb. 1.
