Life After Beth Trailer: Zombie Aubrey Plaza Takes Deadpan Humor to Next Level

We’ve all come to terms that zombies are the new vampires, but, there comes a point where the films studios churn out are just as lifeless as the walking dead at the center of the story. Luckily, Life After Beth appears to have crawled out of the grave with a little more imagination.

The film follows Zach (Dane DeHaan), a heartbroken guy who’s mourning the death of his girlfriend, Beth (Aubrey Plaza). After he discovered that Beth’s parents resurrected her, the two now get to live out all the moments they wish they had before she died.

While Plaza gets to play the undead, we see a more human-esque zombie than most audiences are used to—that is until it’s time to feed. As Beth starts to make the transformation to full-on zombie, Zach realizes she probably should have stayed dead.

Life After Beth is directed by Jeff Baena and also stars John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Anna Kendrick, Cheryl Hines and Paul Reiser. It opens in theaters on Aug. 15. Watch the trailer above.
