Beauty and the Beast Trailer Smashes Huge Viewing Record

Movies News Beauty And The Beast

Did you see the new trailer for Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast? If you didn’t, don’t worry—someone you know assuredly did. The trailer is now the most-watched ever in its first 24 hours. According to Entertainment Weekly, the trailer garnered 127.6 million views over the course of the day following its debut.

That number tops the trailer for previous record-holder Fifty Shades Darker, which earned 114 million views in its first 24 hours. Star Wars: The Force Awakens also held the top spot for awhile, with 112 million views. Of course, the magnificent first trailer for Beauty and the Beast surpassed the record by a whopping 13.6 million views, which represents views across the globe but does not include China. Also, the teaser trailer for the film earned 91.6 million views in its first 24 hours, topping the 88 million view record set by the teaser trailer for The Force Awakens.

As for the full trailer, it earned 29 million views on Facebook alone, in large part thanks to the 27 million views generated by posting the video on Emma Watson’s page. Watson also did a Q&A on the Beauty and the Beast Facebook page to increase awareness, alongside cast mates Dan Stevens (The Beast), Josh Gad (Lefou) and Luke Evans (Gaston), and director Bill Condon.

Nostalgia knows no limits, apparently. The anticipation for this project seems to have reached a fever pitch, and if the trailer is any indication, it may deliver. We’ll have to wait until the movie hits theaters on March 17, 2017, to know for sure. Until then, be sure to check out the full trailer here.
