First Footage from Blade Runner 2049 Shows Us Where Deckard’s Been Hiding

Although it’s only a brief glimpse, we finally have our first taste of Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to the 1982 science-fiction classic. In the teaser, we hear Ryan Gosling’s Officer K tell Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) that “things were simpler” when Deckard was hunting replicants.

Now, it seems that society is in shambles, and Officer K needs some help. Check out the full plot summary below:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) has taken over directing duties from the original film’s director Ridley Scott, who’s an executive producer on the sequel. The teaser gives viewers a sense that they’re going to be in good hands with Villeneuve, who manages to impose his style upon only a minute of footage.

Blade Runner 2049 also stars Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, Mackenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks and Carla Juri. The film is set to arrive in theaters on Oct. 6, 2017. Until then, check out the first teaser above.
