Bleecker Street Sets Release Dates for Keira Knightley’s Colette, Papillon Remake, More

After several successful acquisitions at Sundance this year, Bleecker Street has finally unveiled its amazing 2018 roster. It includes the hit Keira Knightley period piece Colette, about the famed French novelist who escaped an abusive marriage and became a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature, and Leave No Trace from Winter’s Bone director Debra Granik.

Colette will be in limited release on Sept. 21 while Leave No Trace, which made Paste’s top performances of Sundance list, will be in limited release on June 29. The remake of the 1973 Dustin Hoffman-Steve McQueen film, Papillon, will be in a nationwide release on Aug. 24. The remake stars Mr. Robot Emmy winner Rami Malek and The Lost City of Z’s Charlie Hunnam, and follows the story of a prisoner planning his escape from a remote island.

Bleecker Street’s high-stakes thriller Beirut, starring Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike, moved its release date up from April 13 to April 11. Oscar winner Hilary Swank and Michael Shannon can be seen in What They Had, a drama about Alzheimers, on Oct. 12 in limited release.

Three-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan of Lady Bird will be seen in Bleecker’s forthcoming On Chesil Beach on May 18. The film is based on Atonement novelist Ian McEwan’s book of the same name and tells the story of a failing marriage due to fear of intimacy.

Bleecker Street is definitely one of the most prominent new studios to keep an eye out for. It’s first film was Al Pacino’s Danny Collins in 2015 and since then they have continued to release a steady flow of quality films, including The Lost City of Z, Megan Leavy, Logan Lucky and Captain Fantastic.
