Photo by Thos Robinson/GettyBridey Elliott (above, left) is working on financing her forthcoming debut feature, so she’s going where many go for funds: Kickstarter. The film, titled Clara’s Ghost, is a thriller/comedy that explores the toxic effects of the entertainment industry on a New England town.
The film’s full synopsis reads:
Set over the course of a single evening at the Reynolds’ Family home in suburban Connecticut, the film is the story of Clara Reynolds (Paula Elliott) who, fed up with constant ribbing from her self-centered showbiz family, finds solace in and guidance from the supernatural force she believes is haunting her.
The film stars Bridey (Silicon Valley), her father Chris Elliott (There’s Something About Mary), her sister Abby Elliott (Saturday Night Live) and her mother Paula, with an original score by Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Kurt Vile). Clara’s Ghost was written by Bridey, and is set to be directed by her as well. Bridey made her debut with a short film titled Affections, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
The Kickstarter campaign is currently seeking $30,000 for Clara’s Ghost by Jan. 15. “Because this film is so personal, it’s important for me to be able to make it independently, with support from friends and family,” Bridey said in a statement.
