Chadwick Boseman Stars as “Guy Who Kills Cop Killers” in New 21 Bridges Trailer

In the thrilling new trailer for 21 Bridges, Chadwick Boseman stars as “the guy who kills cop killers” as he shuts down Manhattan to catch a single killer in an action-packed cat-and-mouse chase through Manhattan.

Unveiled during San Diego Comic-Con Friday, the trailer includes the film’s recently delayed release date of Sept. 27.

Soaked in suspense, the trailer kicks off at a church funeral for a beloved police officer killed in the line of duty.

“Your father died protecting this city,” a priest says as a single tear rolls down a young boy’s face.

That boy becomes Boseman’s character, Andre Davis, as he stands on the docks of Manhattan, suavely slides under yellow police tape and investigates a crime scene.

The trailer then erupts into gunshots at a police shootout that leaves a pair of cops bleeding out on the ground.

In the dark trailer, lit by red and blue police lights, we hear the wail of sirens, and the deafening sound of gunfire and glass shattering.

21 Bridges tells the story of Boseman’s battle-worn NYPD detective as he unfolds an intricate conspiracy and is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers. As the night goes on, the lines blur between who he’s pursuing and who is pursuing him, until the struggle culminates in the closing of all 21 bridges to and from Manhattan.

“Close the island,” he tells two detectives in the trailer.

When the cops look at him in confusion, Andre repeats himself.

“Manhattan,” he says. “The 21 bridges, shut ’em down. Three rivers, close ’em. Four tunnels, block ’em. There cannot be a version of this where these two aren’t found.”

Boseman’s breakout role as T’Challa in Black Panther launched him into the limelight, but his other credits include several biopics such as 42, Marshall and Get on Up.

Baseman is also prepping to produce the film adaptation of Hakeen Oluseyi’s beloved memoir The Stars in My Soul.

In 21 Bridges, he joins Sienna Miller, Stephan James, Keith David, Taylor Kitsch and J.K. Simmons for the Brian Kirk-directed thriller. The film will be produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Gigi Pritzker, Boseman himself and Logan Coles.
