Euphoria Actor Austin Abrams Joins Amazon Studios Rom-Com Chemical Hearts

With Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart as the female lead, actor Austin Abrams is set to star as the protagonist in Amazon Studios’ forthcoming romance film Chemical Hearts, according to Deadline.

Abrams, who has most recently starred in HBO’s Euphoria, has been cast as the 17-year-old lead Henry Page. The film centers around Page, who defines himself as a romantic, despite never being in love. However, that’s all going to change the first day of senior year when he meets Grace Town (Reinhart), a new transfer student.

Based on Krystal Sutherland’s novel Our Chemical Hearts, the film is being produced and directed by Richard Tanne. It will also see Reinhart in her first executive producer role of her career. Otherwise, Jamin O’Brien (Eighth Grade) will executive produce, while Alex Saks (The Florida Project) will also produce for Page Fifty-Four.

Other than Euphoria, Abrams has most recently starred in the final season of The Americans on FX and Amazon Studios’ Brad’s Status opposite Ben Stiller. (You might also recognize him as Silicon Valley season one’s hacker wunderkind “The Carver.”) The actor will next be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and actor Nat Wolff’s forthcoming directorial debut Youngest.
