Chris Messina Joins I Care a Lot Cast Opposite Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage

Chris Messina is set to costar alongside Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage in the J Blakeson-directed thriller I Care a Lot, as Variety first reported.

Blakeson, known for his whiff of a sci-fi flick The 5th Wave, the tight, gritty thriller The Disappearance of Alice Creed and the second installment of the bone-crunchingly gory horror series The Descent, also penned the script with the two-time Academy Award-winning Diane Wiest joining the cast, as well.

The film will revolve around Marla Grayson, played by Gone Girl star Pike, who’s an extremely successful lawyer with a knack for bending the law to her benefit and to her unsuspecting clients’ detriment. Grayson susses out her perfect candidate but soon realizes looks can be deceiving as she faces off against a gangster portrayed by Game of Thrones actor Dinklage.

Messina will take on the role of the lawyer who represents Dinklage’s character.

Black Bear and Blakeson’s own Sugar November are onboard as producers, while Black Bear is bearing the brunt of financing. While Sacha Guttenstein, known for the indie breakout and awards season favorite Call Me by Your Name and Suspiria, will executive produce, Teddy Schwarzman, Ben Stillman and Michael Heimler will join Blakeson as producers.

Messina most recently starred alongside Amy Adams in HBO’s grim, slow-burn miniseries Sharp Objects, and can be seen next opposite Margot Robbie and Ewan McGregor in the much-anticipated Harley Quinn film Birds of Prey. Messina’s also keeping busy with a slew of other forthcoming projects, including the thriller The Secrets We Keep, the YouTube thriller Dark Cargo, and Mainstream, Gia Coppola’s follow-up to the 2013 drama Palo Alto.
