Michael B. Jordan Gets Back in the Ring in First Creed II Trailer

At the start of the first Creed II trailer, Sylvester Stallon’s Rocky Balboa is once again trying to convince Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) to hang up his gloves. But of course, with his father’s legacy up in the air, Adonis still has something to prove.

In the sequel, Adonis has now started a family with his girlfriend, played by Tessa Thompson reprising her role as Bianca, yet he is still searching for validation inside the ring.

Adonis’ next big fight forces he and Rocky to grapple with their shared history, as he is up against the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), who killed Apollo Creed in the ring in Rocky IV.

As Adonis trains to the tune of Kendrick Lamar’s “DNA.,” the intense trailer features a cool homage to Muhammad Ali, as pointed out by Priscilla Page on Twitter.

Creed director Ryan Coogler has stepped back, serving as executive producer and passing the reins to Steven Caple Jr. to helm the sequel, written and produced by Stallone. Production kicked off in April.
