Ryan Reynolds has always been a good comedic actor, even if some of his more overlooked movies. It was great to see him in a fat suit for part of 2005’s Just Friends, and he killed us in 2009’s The Proposal with Sandra Bullock. However, he’s never been so sublimely perfect in every sense than in 2016’s Deadpool, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
The sequel to that film does not have an official title yet, but is known only as Deadpool 2 or Untitled Deadpool Sequel. The film is set to be released on May 18 and will see the return of stars Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller and Brianna Hildebrand. Josh Brolin has also joined the cast to depict cyborg warrior and all-around badass Cable, as well as Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz as probability-altering mutant Domino. The official summary released by 20th Century Fox details exactly what we can expect from the sequel, with no comedic embellishment whatsoever:
After surviving a near fatal knee boarding accident, a disfigured guidance counselor (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Poughkeepsie’s most celebrated French Bulldog breeder while also learning to cope with an open relationship. Searching to regain his passion for life, as well as a new stuffed unicorn, Wade must battle ninjas, tight assed metal men, and babysit a group of stereotypical side characters as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and creative outlets for his very open-minded sex life. He manages to find a new lust for being a do-gooder, a sparkly Hello Kitty backpack, all while earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best 4th Wall Breaking Superhero.
The film’s new poster, included below, is just fabulous, emphasis on the “fab.” Deadpool is really unleashing his inner diva and getting his Flashdance on. “Take your passion. And make it happen.” Well said, Mr. Reynolds.
