Watch Storm Reid Investigate Her Own Murder in Time-Bending Trailer for Don’t Let Go

In the first trailer for Blumhouse’s Don’t Let Go, a young girl must solve her own killing in a time-bending murder mystery.

The film follows a cop, played by David Oyelowo (Selma), who is dealing with the loss of his niece Ashley, portrayed by Storm Reid (Euphoria, A Wrinkle in Time), after her gruesome murder. While grieving, he gets a second chance to possibly help his family when his supposedly dead niece calls him—but, in Ashley’s world, she’s not dead yet, which leads the two to attempt to solve (or would it be prevent?) her murder.

In addition to Oyelowo and Reid, the film stars Brian Tyree Henry (Child’s Play), Mykelti Williamson (Fences), Shinelle Azoroh (Nostalgia), Byron Mann (Hell On Wheels) and Alfred Molina (The Front Runner).

The film originally premiered at Sundance Film Festival under the title Relive, but is set to release in theaters on Aug. 30. Jacob Aaron Estes directed and wrote the film, with development help from Drew Daywalt. The film is being released by Blumhouse Tilt, Universal OTL Releasing and Briarcliff Entertainment, with Jason Blum, Bobby Cohen and Oyelowo serving as producers.

The plot of the film originally was centered on a white family in the middle of Ohio where gunshots aren’t ever heard, but when Oyelowo joined the film, they switched the storyline to a largely black community in Los Angeles, where gunshots are heard too regularly, per TheWrap.
