These are Edgar Wright’s 1,000 Favorite Movies

English director, screenwriter, actor and hardcore movie enthusiast Edgar Wright released a list of his 1,000 (yes, 1,000) favorite movies on MUBI yesterday. He created the list with Sam DiSalle, who also has lists of other celebrities’ favorite movies on his MUBI page.

Wright’s list ranks the movies by chronological order, beginning with Roger Kay’s 1920 classic The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and ending with Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon, which came out in late June and is the only 2016 film on the list.

The list also includes well-known movies like Metropolis, Scarface (1932), King Kong (1933), The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story, Mad Max, Kill Bill, Life of Pi and Inside Out. Wright’s own Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World were not included on the list.
