Get Ready for the Eighth Fast and Furious Movie, The Fate of the Furious
Images via Universal PicturesYou’d think they’d run out of names for Fast and Furious films eventually, but Universal seems to keep thinking of new ones. In a teaser released Friday, the studio revealed that the eighth entry in the blockbuster franchise will be called The Fate of the Furious. The teaser, like its predecessor released earlier this week, promises a full trailer to debut this Sunday.
The quick 15-second teaser begins with The Rock saying “Let’s play,” and follows that up with all of the mayhem and insanity audiences have come to expect from this franchise. There’s drag racing, explosions and tons of ice. We also get a peek at Charlize Theron’s villain, who according to Comingsoon.net, seduces Dom (Vin Diesel) “into a world of crime he can’t seem to escape.”
The Fate of the Furious also stars Kurt Russell, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Tyrese Gibson. Newcomers include Scott Eastwood and, somehow, Oscar winner Helen Mirren. F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) is directing the eighth installment, which is set to hit theaters on April 17, 2017. Check out the short teaser above.
