Gal Gadot in Talks to Join Nazi-Hunting Thriller Ruin
Photo via Getty Images, Mike CoppolaPrincess of the Amazons Gal Gadot is a rising A-list actress with a slate of film projects that is rapidly filling up. Recently we reported that she was in talks to join Bradley Cooper to star in the film Deeper from screenwriter Max Landis and director Kornel Mundruczo. Now she can add to tha with Ruin, a historical drama from director Justin Kurzel (Assassin’s Creed, Macbeth). The film is aiming for an early 2018 production, which would wrap in time for Gadot to start work on Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman sequel, a film that must obviously be seen as Gadot’s top priority.
Ruin, on the other hand, is rooted in historical fiction. Described as being somewhat in the vein of Inglorious Basterds, except presumably without the comedic edge, the film is about “a nameless ex-Nazi captain who navigates the ruins of post WWII Germany. Determined to atone for his crimes during the war, he hunts down the surviving members of his former SS Death squad.”
Now that is one unique-sounding protagonist—a self-hating Nazi, as it were? Judging from the “he,” and the fact that we’re talking about an SS officer, this presumably wouldn’t be the role Gadot is playing. So who is she? A member of the death squad being hunted down? An old flame of our Nazi protagonist? We’ll just have to wait and see.
