Young Frankenstein to Return to 500+ Theaters with Live Mel Brooks Video Intro

Get out your abnormal brains and wooden arms. Young Frankenstein, the 1974 Mel Brooks comedy starring the late Gene Wilder, is returning to more than 500 theaters on Oct. 5, Entertainment Weekly reports. The film will be introduced by a live video of Brooks. Brooks will reminisce about his friend and frequent collaborator Wilder, who died in August.

Young Frankenstein came at the height of the collaboration between Wilder and Brooks, who also made classic films like Blazing Saddles and The Producers together. Young Frankenstein, which tells the story of Victor Frankenstein’s son and his work to create a monster of his own, is undoubtedly one of Wilder’s most iconic films.

Although other Wilder films have already returned to theaters, Young Frankenstein is certainly a worthwhile addition to that list. Screenings of the film will begin at 8 p.m. EST on Oct. 5. Tickets can be purchased at the Fathom Events website.

EW also reports that the film will be commemorated as an illustrated book with a foreword from Judd Apatow. The book will be titled Young Frankenstein: A Mel Brooks Book: The Making of the Film, and is set to be released on Oct. 18.
