Mackenzie Davis in Talks to Star with Kristen Stewart in Rom-Com Happiest Season

The studio apparently did not comment on the Blade Runner 2049 actor’s joining the cast as a romantic lead alongside Stewart.
Happiest Season follows a young woman who’s looking to propose to her girlfriend at her family’s holiday party. However, the plan goes awry when she realizes her significant other still hasn’t come out to her right-wing parents.
Clea Duvall, whose acting credits run the gamut from same-sex comedy But I’m a Cheerleader to Argo, will be making her studio directing debut with the romantic comedy. She first stepped into the role of feature director with comedy drama The Intervention (which she also wrote), so she’s no stranger to navigating emotional waters from behind the camera. Duvall co-wrote the script with Mary Holland, an actor who’s appeared on everything from Brooklyn Nine-Nine to Veep to Blunt Talk.
Producers for the film include Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Isaac Klausner and Jaclyn Huntling, with Hannah Minghella and Shary Shirazi taking up overseeing duties for TriStar.
