Warner Bros. Eyeing a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Movie with Daniel Radcliffe

Movies News Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe may have to get his glasses back out. According to The New York Daily News, Warner Bros. is looking to adapt Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which debuted onstage this summer, for the screen.

According to TNYDN, Warner Bros. is looking to adapt the story as soon as 2020. The studio wants Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter in eight films from 2001-2011, to reprise his beloved role for the adaptation. Although Radcliffe is currently making a career out of playing farting corpses, he has expressed interest in reprising the role.

TNYDN is also reporting that, although the stage adaptation was a single story, Warner Bros. would be willing to turn the series into a trilogy. Of course, these conversations are still in their earliest stages, and Radcliffe certainly has other projects to keep him busy. As a source close to TNYDN points out, “He doesn’t need to go back for money or to reboot his career, so he will need some persuading.”

While adapting Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is far from a sure thing, Warner Bros. does have other Harry Potter adjacent projects that are much closer to release. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first film in a planned trilogy, hits theaters on Nov. 18. Find the trailer for that film right here.
