Ice Age: Collision Course Debuts First Trailer

The first trailer for the latest Ice Age flick, Ice Age: Collision Course, was released earlier today and the gang’s latest venture will have cosmic consequences, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The fifth installment in the Fox Animation Studios and Blue Sky Studios franchise will see the Ice Age characters face a much bigger threat this go-round when the capricious squirrel Scrat sets off a series of cosmic events while in pursuit of that same acorn he has failed to capture since the first film.

Scrat’s pursuit of the acorn spurs the planets into an rotational orbit around the Sun, giving an explanation for the Earth’s rotation around the Sun. Sid, Manny, Diego and the rest of the gang must then start on a new journey to save their home once again.

The film will be directed by Mike Thurmeier and will once again feature the voices of Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes and Jennifer Lopez.

The cast will be joined by Stephanie Beatriz, Adam DeVine, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jessie J, Nick Offerman, Melissa Rauch, Michael Strahan and Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The fourth Ice Age film, Ice Age: Continental Drift, was a box-office hit, grossing more than $877 million worldwide. In all, the four films have grossed more than $2.8 billion, indicating that the popular franchise may be around for a while.

Ice Age: Collision Course orbits into theaters July 22, 2016.
