Idris Elba to Play Villain in Fast and Furious Spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw

Idris Elba has signed on as the villain in the Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw, per THR.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are reprising their roles from the original franchise as Hobbs and Shaw, respectively. Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) will also star, with Deadpool 2 director David Leitch set to helm the film.

Last appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, Elba is currently working on Netflix’s Turn Up Charlie. The actor will make his directorial debut with Yardie, due out Aug. 24, and is set to direct and star in Disney’s forthcoming live-action retelling of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Hobbs and Shaw hits theatres on July 26, 2019.
