Natalie Portman is Jackie Onassis in Spine-Tingling First Trailer for Jackie

Natalie Portman is coming for all of the awards. The first trailer for Jackie just dropped, and it promises a powerhouse performance from the Oscar winner. Jackie follows Portman as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the immediate aftermath of John F. Kennedy’s assassination as she deals with scrutiny from both the public and her friends and family.

Jackie debuted to rave reviews last month at the Toronto International Film Festival. Portman’s performance was especially lauded, and should propel her to the front of the awards conversation yet again.

Other than Portman, the film also stars Greta Gerwig as Nancy Tuckerman, Peter Sarsgaard as Bobby Kennedy, John Carroll Lynch as Lyndon B. Johnson, Max Casella as Jack Valenti, Billy Crudup as an American journalist and John Hurt as Jackie’s priest.

The first trailer for Jackie is set to a song from the musical Camelot, and all of the dialogue in the trailer focuses on the idea of Camelot as it applied to the Kennedys. They were America’s golden family, if only for a moment.

Check out the full trailer above to bask in some marvelous visuals from director Pablo Larraín, who’s making his English-language debut with Jackie.
