Get On Up, the James Brown biopic that’s been around (at least in theory) for years, finally has an official release date of Aug. 1. Tate Taylor (The Help) will direct, and Chadwick Boseman (who played Jackie Robinson in another recent biopic, 42) stars as the legendary “Godfather of Soul.” Brown died in 2006 after a career that included 17 No. 1 singles. Mick Jagger, who along with Keith Richards was profoundly influenced by Brown, will produce. The film also stars Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Dan Aykroyd. Check out the trailer below:
