Taika Waititi Plays Hitler in New Teaser for Jojo Rabbit

Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi gives us our first solid look at his forthcoming flick, Jojo Rabbit. The “teezer traylor” from the “visionistical” filmmaker—seriously, Waititi’s comedic tone even extends to his spelling—might initially be mistaken for a quirky, lighthearted romp at summer camp. That is, until you notice the Hitler Youth clothing and grenades start flying. By the time Waititi himself shows up as history’s most infamous dictator who happens to be a child’s imaginary friend, it’s obvious this is going to be a little … strange.

The anti-hate satire features newcomer Roman Griffin Davis as a German boy questioning his commitment to the Nazi effort after discovering his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie). Sam Rockwell (Vice), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) and Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones) also appear.

Jojo Rabbit is scheduled for release Oct. 18. Watch the teaser below.
