Taika Waititi’s “Anti-Hate Satire” Jojo Rabbit Gets a Release Date

Writer-director-actor-generally talented guy Taika Waititi revealed the release date for his next project, Jojo Rabbit, with a straightforward tweet Tuesday.

Though an actual trailer is yet to be seen, the film’s plot sounds bonkers:

Writer director Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK, HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE), brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, JOJO RABBIT, a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his naive patriotism.

Yep. Sounds like a Waititi film.

Also cast are Sam Rockwell as a Nazi captain who runs a Hitler Youth camp, Alfie Allen as his second in command and Rebel Wilson as a camp instructor.

Jojo Rabbit opens Oct. 18.
