Check Out the Oddly Spoiler-Laden Final Trailer for Keanu Reeves’ Replicas

There are spoilery trailers, and then there’s the new footage of Replicas, Keanu Reeves’ upcoming sci-fi actioner, which seems to be dispensing entirely with the idea that you might want to save a few of the film’s twists and turns for the audience. Suffice to say, if you have any interest in going into a movie like Replicas cold, you’ll probably want to stop reading right about now.

In Replicas, our boy John Wick is playing biologist Will Foster, who “violates all possible laws and principles in order to bring his family members back to life, after they died in a car accident.” You get to see him tell Alice Eve (who doesn’t get a billing in the trailer at all, ouch) to her face that she’s a clone, which you have to figure is the sort of second-half twist one doesn’t usually put in a two-minute trailer, but Replicas doesn’t seem to be doing anything normally. The premise written on Wikipedia, in fact, reads a bit like it was written by an overzealous fan—I’ve never seen a studio write a premise that includes the phrase “he soon faces a ‘Sophie’s choice.’”

A neuro-scientist William Foster is on the verge of successfully transferring human consciousness into a computer when his family is tragically killed in a car crash. Desperate to resurrect them, William recruits fellow scientist Ed Whittle to help him secretly clone their bodies and create replicas. But he soon faces a “Sophie’s choice” when it turns out that they can only bring three of the four family members back to life.

Replicas also stars Thomas Middleditch, and seems to feature some heavily I, Robot-inspired android bodies as well. It hits theaters in what we assume is an at least semi-wide release on Jan. 11, 2019. Check out the full trailer below to satisfy your Keanu fix while we wait for more news on John Wick 3 or the Bill and Ted reunion.
