Many still might not know that Kong: Skull Island is actually the second film set its universe. No, the first wasn’t Peter Jackson’s 2005 take on King Kong, but actually 2014’s Godzilla, directed by Rogue One’s Gareth Edwards. Today, via Yahoo Movies, we finally have our first clip from Skull Island that explicitly connects the two franchises.
In the video, John Goodman’s Bill Randa reveals to Samuel L. Jackson’s Lieutenant Colonel Packard that he’s a part of Project Monarch, the secret monster-hunting government organization introduced in the 2014 film. Keep in mind that the new Kong film takes place in 1971, so we have yet to see exactly how this all will fit together.
