The Epic New Trailer for Kong: Skull Island Has More John C. Reilly, is Better for it
Images via Warner Bros.Kong: Skull Island was reluctant to give audiences a good look at the titular ape during its first trailer, which premiered at Comic-Con. Last night, a new trailer debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and this time, they’re much less worried about hiding the ape.
The new trailer is heavy on King Kong himself, and it also gives us a look at the incredible roster of talent lined up behind the project. There’s Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Toby Kebbell, Corey Hawkins and last but by no means least, an incredibly haggard-looking John C. Reilly.
Reilly gets many of the trailer’s best lines, and also gives us our first look at the “skull crawlers” Kong will likely be forced to fight. Set in the 1970s, Kong: Skull Island follows a group of soldiers, led by Jackson, alongside Goodman’s scientist, Hiddleston’s tracker and Larson’s photographer as they explore Skull Island and try to find proof that “monsters do exist,” as Goodman’s character puts it.
Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) promised the biggest Kong ever in this new installment. That’s fitting, considering that this Kong will eventually be forced to fight Godzilla in the planned 2020 crossover Godzilla vs. Kong. Kong: Skull Island hits theaters on March 10. Until then, check out the epic trailer above.
