Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding to Star in Paul Feig’s Romantic Comedy Last Christmas

Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke and Crazy Rich Asians’ Henry Golding are set to star in the Paul Feig-directed romantic comedy Last Christmas, per THR.

The forthcoming film reunites Golding with Feig, whose latest, the mystery thriller A Simple Favor, came out in theaters this past weekend.

Golding is now in high demand as a leading man with just two credits under his name to date, having made his film debut in the record-breaking Crazy Rich Asians in August. Clarke, who will be appearing in the final season of Game of Thrones next year, is also coming off Solo: A Star Wars Story and starred in the 2016 romantic film Me Before You.

Universal acquired Last Christmas in July, from a script written by Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings, with Feig attached as director. While plot details are mostly being kept under wraps, we know that it’s “a holiday romance set in London,” which should be good news for fans of Thompson, a familiar name as an actress, who also starred in Love Actually. A multi-talented performer and writer, Thompson also won the screenplay Oscar for Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility in 1995, in which she also appeared.

Feig will produce Last Christmas under his Feigco Entertainment banner, alongside Jessie Henderson, David Livingstone and Thompson.

The project is still in its early stages, but this should be an exciting development for fans curious about Golding’s next moves following a huge breakout year.
